We are happy to share with you the Final Report of the project entitled Building the “Serbian World”: Serbia’s Impact on Security and Stability in the Western Balkans
With the support of the International Visegrad Fund, this program aimed at enhancing democratic resilience and good governance in the Western Balkans through regional cooperation and dialogue. The program was successful in mapping the asymmetric and hybrid influence in the region while also developing the capacity and resistance of the locals. Through several workshops, networking, and fact-finding trips in Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro, participants critically analyzed the effects of foreign influence on governance and stability. Connecting Visegrad Group (V4) with the locals, the program formulated policy recommendations to facilitate democratic progress and integration into the EU.
The project successfully achieved all set goals, namely:
Analysis of Hybrid Threats: Analysis of the malign influence mechanisms affecting Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro and focusing on actions that threaten the rule of law, good governance, democracy, and regional stability.
Mapping of Influence Tools: The identification of connections between these destabilizing tools and the institutions of the Serbian state, politics, and security in the light of the foreign policy goals of Serbia.
Development of Policy Recommendations: Development of strategic policy recommendations for limiting these activities and reinforcing good governance architecture in the region.
Analysis of Integration Risks: Assessment of general risks posed by the current political landscape and aspirations of the region for the process of EU integration of the Western Balkans.
Stakeholder Engagement: Successful involvement of the regional stakeholders and experts through various workshops and roundtables.
