About the Project

The Balkan Views is proud to announce that it has become a part of the project entitled “Building the “Serbian World”: Serbia’s Impact on Security and Stability in the Western Balkans“

The project, which is funded by International Visegrad Fund, strengthens democratic resilience and good governance in the Western Balkans by promoting regional cooperation and informed dialogue. It counters Serbia’s asymmetric and hybrid influence while building local resistance. Through workshops, networking, and fact-finding visits in Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro, stakeholders will examine external impacts on governance and stability. Connecting V4 partners with local actors will produce practical policy recommendations to support democratic development and EU integration.

Goals of the project

  • Analyze Serbia’s malignant influence tools in Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro that undermine good governance, rule of law, democracy, and regional stability.
  • Identify links between these tools and Serbian state structures, political actors, and security networks, and map their connection to Serbia’s foreign policy.
  • Propose policy changes in Serbia to curb these practices and strengthen good governance.
  • Assess risks posed by Serbia’s political situation and regional ambitions for the EU integration process.
  • Connect local experts and stakeholders across the region and engage decision-makers through workshops and a final closed roundtable.

Implementation of the project

Analytical data will be gathered through cooperation with local experts and stakeholders in areas affected by Serbia’s influence, including civil society actors, journalists, politicians, and experts in Serbia, Kosovo, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Fact-finding visits will include networking events and workshops structured as moderated roundtable discussions on key issues. Participants will include regional experts, CSOs, journalists, and local representatives to ensure diverse perspectives.

At the project’s end, a closed roundtable in Prague will bring together EU, V4, and MFA representatives, along with journalists, civil society, and regional experts to discuss and disseminate findings. The analysis will be published through partner organizations and on their websites, and project outputs will appear in regional and European media such as Balkan Insight, European Western Balkans, and Visegrad Insight.
